Celebrate Independence Day

To celebrate the United States' Independence from England, join the grammar anarchist in sending up rockets. And if you declare, "God bless America", know you are asking for blessings on all of the Americas -- Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Guatemala, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile... and all the others. We aren't the only Americans, you know!

Hmmmm! Never thought of it that way. You're right. Americans come in all sizes and shapes, from the Arctic to the Antarctic.

So what would you call us in the U.S.? US-ers? Middle Americans? Staters? And what happens to "And God bless America"???

I kinda like Staters. We live in "the States"!

Sorry, guys, WE ARE AMERICANS!

Anon, you must realize that first, we are not all “guys”, and second, we are not all Americans. My friends in Rio consider themselves Americans too, as do my colleagues in Toronto. Tsk! Tsk! Is it pride or is it arrogance?
